Reaching the Unreached With Fix-Tuned Radios Jesus said, 'I tell you open your eyes and look at the fields. They are ripe for harvest.' God's very nature is love and mercy. God does not want anyone to perish. Many millions of people throughout the world have never heard the Good News. Billions of people around the world have ready access to the Good News about Jesus Christ through radio, television , books, and all manner of printed material. However, there are millions of people in Third World countries and remote regions who have no way of hearing the gospel. For centuries, missionaries have worked tirelessly throughout the world, but there are still not enough missionaries to reach everyone.
Jesus said, 'Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every living creature.' The vision of Galcom International is to produce a fix-tuned radio that can be sent around the world whereever Christian broadcasting can be received. Galcom has learned that in some regions the reception is best with AM radios, while in other areas, FM excels. To reach the most remote areas of the world, short wave (SW) radios are needed. Each radio is tuned to the local frequency that is broadcasting the Word of God.
Another issue is power: although the radios are provided with long lasting batteries, once a battery becomes dead in remote areas a replacement battery is nearly impossible to find. The Galcom engineers set out to find another solution. This time they looked to a source as old as the universe: the sun. They developed a radio with a solar panel so that it can operate with or without batteries. We use solar panels that work on infrared energy so incandescent light will charge the radio as well as the sun on a clear or cloudy day. The solar panel puts out enough energy during the day and charges the batteries, so that at night it can rely on the batteries and operate all night if you wish. Today we have four types of radio: the Matthew (AM), the Mark (FM), the Luke (SW) and the John (dual frequency SW) version. The radios come as solar, non-solar, and with headset or speaker.
Remember Jesus said, 'Look at the fields. They are ripe for harvest. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.' This Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations.
